Q: What data layers are supported?
A:
ESRI Formats
· ArcInfo Feature Classes - Polygon, Arc, Point, Node, Regions, Routes, Annotation text, Annotation subclass
· ArcView Shapefiles
· GeoDatabase Feature Classes (see ArcGIS toolsets)

CAD Formats
· DGN (MicroStation Design File)
Bentley’s MicroStation uses the proprietary .dgn drawing file format. MapObjects LT supports both 2D and 3D design files generated by Microstation up to Release 5.5.

· DXF (Digital eXchange Format)
AutoDesk’s .dxf file standard was created to enable the transfer of CAD drawings from one system to another. A .dxf file is an standardized representation of the CAD drawing, usually in ASCII, although more compressed binary versions can also be produced. Both the binary and ASCII versions are supported by MapObjects LT. The DXF file format supports up to double precision floating point numbers.
· DWG (AutoCAD Drawing Database)
AutoCAD stores its drawing database in a proprietary drawing file format with the .dwg extension. supports drawing files generated by AutoCAD. The .dwg format is based around an object-oriented representation of the CAD drawing. The .dwg is a compressed format, and changes with successive releases of AutoCAD. MapObjects LT supports up to AutoCAD 2000.

Image Formats
· BIL - Band interleaved by line multiband images (*.bil)
· BIP - Band interleaved by pixel multiband images (*.bip)
· BMP- Windows bitmap (*.bmp, *.dib)
· BSQ - Band sequential multiband images (*.bsq)
· GeoTIFF - TIFF with a Geo header (*.tif, *.tff, *.tiff)
· IMPELL RLC - Run-length compressed files (*.rlc)
· JFIF – JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg)
· MrSID - Multi-Resolution Seamless Image Database (*.sid)
· Sun rasterfiles (*.rs, *.ras; *.sun)
· SVF- Single Variable File (*.svf)

Q: What licensing requirements are there for CivicSight?

A: There are no licensing agreements for individual desktop deployments, however a site license is issued to the organization upon software delivery.

top

Q: Can CivicSight be used on a Laptop?

A: Yes. There is tool within the CivicSight Data Wizard that allows a data version to be converted to a Laptop Version. Laptop versions can also be included in the automatic update process.

Q: Can CivicSight be used a Network?

A: CivicSight is designed for a network deployment. The software executable and supporting data and reference information are resident on a network server that is accessible by all of the intended users of CivicSight. Program files and user specific files are installed on the local computer.

Q: What are the recommended system requirements?

A: Network connections should be at least 100mbs. Most connections are 10/100mbs. The desktop should have a minimum of the following resources.
Desktop recommended minimum requirements:
* 500 MHZ Processor
* 256 MB Ram
* 16 MB Video Card
* 30 MB of free space
Screen resolution @ 1024 x 768
